Pipeline Contractor in Murfreesboro, TN
Murfreesboro and Rutherford County have been growing as fast as anywhere in Tennessee, and growth means gas load: new plants, new subdivisions, new distribution. We are about an hour up the road in Gallatin.

Cedar glades and shallow limestone
Rutherford County is flat to gently rolling limestone ground, easier trenching than the ridges east of here but with plenty of rock and a dense web of road crossings along the I-24 corridor. Stones River and its tributaries add water crossings that usually call for bores rather than open cuts.
The county is also cedar glade country, thin soil over flat limestone, which means shallow rock shows up in places that look like easy digging from the road. A route walk catches that before it becomes a trenching surprise.
Living with the I-24 corridor
Interstate 24 is the spine of Rutherford County, with US 231, US 41, and State Route 96 feeding it and a ring of new arterials around Murfreesboro. Interstate and state route crossings are TDOT bores; the city and county handle local roads. The corridor is dense enough that a short line can carry a surprising number of crossings, and each one has its own permit.
The Stones River and its East and West forks run through the county into Percy Priest Lake, with dozens of smaller creeks. Stream crossings go through TDEC, and the larger ones through the Corps. CSX has a line through Murfreesboro and Smyrna, and any crossing of it needs a railroad agreement and flagging.
Crossings are usually where a pipeline schedule is won or lost, which is why a pipeline contractor working in Murfreesboro should have the permits moving the day the route is set. Our post on how pipelines cross roads and railroads walks through the methods, and horizontal directional drilling is the tool for the river and highway crossings that cannot be open-cut.
Plants, distribution centers, and the gas behind them
Manufacturing and distribution centers along I-24 drive most of the pipeline demand here: gas service for new plants, meter stations, and tie-ins to the transmission lines that feed the corridor. Distribution extensions for the county's residential growth round it out. All of it is work we self-perform with our own crews.
The industrial parks between Smyrna, La Vergne, and Murfreesboro are where most of the new load is, and a typical project is a tie-in to existing transmission, a few miles of new pipe along or across the interstate corridor, and a meter station sized for a plant that is still being designed. Bringing us in while the site plan is still moving is what keeps the gas from becoming the long pole.
An hour from the yard, a lot of crossings in between
A Rutherford County job is close enough to Gallatin that crews and equipment come from the yard without a mobilization line worth talking about. The schedule is driven by crossing permits along I-24 and by materials, so those start the day the route is fixed.
Construction runs the standard sequence with a lot of crossings in it: clear, string, weld, coat, trench through limestone, bore the roads and creeks, lower in, backfill, test, and restore. On the industrial parks the restoration is often paving and hardscape rather than pasture, and the schedule has to fit around the site contractor's work, which is a coordination job we plan for.
Where the crews come from does not change how the job runs. Pipeline construction in Murfreesboro follows the same sequence we run everywhere, and capacity comes from spreads and crews sized to the route, and the same safety program and superintendents run every site. There is a longer walk-through of the whole sequence in how a pipeline project comes together.
Who we serve in Rutherford County
Along the I-24 corridor we build for industrial developers and manufacturers needing new gas service, for the gas utilities and midstream operators serving Rutherford County, for gas-fired power projects, and as the pipeline partner for EPC and design-build firms delivering plants and distribution centers.
- Data center developers who need gas service on the site's schedule, not the utility's.
- Power generation projects, from tie-ins and meter stations to new transmission pipe.
- Gas utilities and midstream operators extending or rebuilding their systems.
- EPC and design-build firms that need a self-perform pipeline partner for a scope inside a larger project.
